Strategic realignment at LEHNKERING

2012-02-06 |

In the course of the acquisition by the

IMPERIAL Group the company decided on a strategic realignment

of parts of the LEHNKERING Group.

Gerhard Riemann, CEO of IMPERIAL Logistics International B.V. &

Co. KG and at the same time CEO of LEHNKERING Holding GmbH:

“This restructuring is aimed at further strengthening the core

competencies of the entire corporation as well as coordinating the

service portfolios of IMPERIAL and LEHNKERING. In this way we

want to further expand our joint sector presence in Europe and

enable our customers to benefit from the new opportunities on the

market as quickly as possible.”

To optimise the divisions, the following structural changes will be

implemented at LEHNKERING:

LEHNKERING Shipping Logistics & Services (SLS)

IMPERIAL Reederei has broad competence and a strong market

presence in the inland shipping sector. It therefore makes sense to

combine the two shipping divisions into one operating unit in the

IMPERIAL Shipping Group. This will guarantee that the customers of

both companies benefit from more extensive offerings and a

broader service portfolio. The Rhein‐Fracht and LEHNKERING brands

are retained for chemical, mineral and gas tanker shipping and

joined in the new Liquid Cargo Services division. The LEHNKERING

locations in Mannheim and Hamburg continue to operate. The Dry

Shipping division is integrated into the Dry Bulk Services division of

the IMPERIAL Shipping Group. In future Robert Baack, Chief

Operating Officer (COO) of the previous SLS division at LEHNKERING,

will strengthen the management team of the IMPERIAL Shipping

Group in his position as COO. The CEO of the IMPERIAL Shipping

Group is Carsten Taucke. Other members of the Management Board

are Andreas Grzib, Jürgen Helten and Dr. Roland Pütz.

LEHNKERING Chemical Manufacturing Services (CMS)

Dr Bernd Müller has been appointed new COO of the company’s

CMS division and Managing Director of the LEHNKERING Holding

GmbH at the same time. The CMS division is in charge of the

business activities of LEHNKERING subsidiary Schirm GmbH.

Müller has been responsible for Schirm within the Group for many

years.

LEHNKERING Road Logistics & Services (RLS)

The responsibilities within the Road Logistics & Services (RLS)

division at LEHNKERING, which comprises all intra‐European road

transports and the related value added services in three specialised

divisions, will be reallocated. Uwe Willhaus in addition to his duties

as COO of the Distribution Logistics & Services division at

LEHNKERING Holding GmbH takes over the responsibilities for

LEHNKERING Chemical Transport (LCT). LCT is amongst others a

specialist in tank transportation of liquid hazardous goods. Walter

Steinig who is also CFO of LEHNKERING HOLDING GmbH will be in

charge of the two RLS divisions LEHNKERING Euro Logistics (LEU)

offering transport solutions for European part‐ and full‐loads of all

kinds and LEHNKERING Steel Logistics & Services (LSTS) specializing

in transportation and handling of steel in every form.
